Nedumaran is a Principal Agricultural Economist with the Global Research Program on Enabling Systems Transformation at ICRISAT, India. With nearly 15 years of experience, he has worked extensively in the fields of development economics, natural resource management (NRM), foresight and scenario analysis of dryland agriculture, assessing climate change impacts, and ex-ante and ex-post impact assessment of technologies and development programs.
He has conducted research with multiple stakeholders across Asia and Africa, applied quantitative and qualitative integrated modeling approaches to understand dryland agriculture's complexity and uncertainty better, and supported informed decision-making processes and science-policy dialogue. His research also addressed the targeting and priority-setting concern of Dryland agriculture by using his analytical prowess to harness national, regional, meso- and micro-farm level databases.
Nedumaran research focuses on achieving sustainable intensification of global drylands and food systems transformation. His research mainly revolves around assessing the impacts of climate change, understanding technology diffusion, adoption, and multi-dimensional impacts of resource use, productivity, livelihoods, and natural resources.
Nedumaran, an Indian national, obtained his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, India. Before joining ICRISAT in 2010, he was a post-doctoral fellow and senior researcher at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany.
