Dr. Ramesh Singh is an Indian national currently serving as Global Research Program Director (GRPD) for Resilient Farming Systems at ICRISAT, where he also leads three cross-cutting themes — Regenerative Landscapes, Digital Agriculture, and Climate Action across Asia and Africa. He brings over 27 years of research and development experience in landscape resource conservation, land resource inventory and hydrology, rainwater harvesting (including in-situ and ex-situ interventions and gravity-based irrigation), alternative land use systems, climate-resilient cropping systems, and agroforestry, with high-level expertise in designing cost-effective rainwater-harvesting structures tailored to diverse landscapes. He is currently leading the development of National Technical Guidelines for integrating Land Resource Inventory and Hydrology for efficient watershed management in India.
Dr. Singh completed his Ph.D. in Irrigation & Drainage Engineering from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology. He has received several national and international honours, including the ICAR Team Research Award and the ICAR Vasant Rao Naik Award. He has led the implementation of more than 25 projects, authored more than 100 research publications in refereed journals, conducted national and international training and evaluated numerous projects on natural resource conservation and management
