Kumara Charyulu Deevi is a Senior Scientist in Agricultural Economics at ICRISAT, where his core focus revolves around technology adoption and impact assessment studies. His work centers on generating credible evidence that translates into tangible development impacts, aligning closely with ICRISAT's mission and vision.

Kumara Charyulu holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Hyderabad. He embarked on his professional journey in 2007 as a consultant for a World Bank-funded weather insurance project at ICRISAT. Subsequently, he enriched his experience with a post-doctoral fellowship at IIM, Ahmedabad, from 2009 to 2010. His return to ICRISAT in 2010 as a visiting scientist marked the continuation of his impactful career trajectory. Rising through the ranks, he became a scientist in 2011 and was elevated to the position of Senior Scientist in 2015, a role in which he continues to excel today.

Kumara Charyulu's research interests encompass a wide spectrum, including technology need assessment, research prioritization, tracking technology adoption and dis-adoption, impact assessment, market segmentation, seed systems, scaling-up strategies, crop value chains, and social protection measures like agricultural insurance. With over 15 years of post-doctoral research experience, he has been instrumental in both national and international projects at ICRISAT.

Kumara Charyulu's prolific contributions include 40+ research articles, 5 books, 10 book chapters, and over 40 research reports and working papers across diverse projects. His mentorship extends to supervising 7 master students and a summer intern.
