Dr Jagdish Jaba leads the Entomology unit within the Crop Protection & Seed Health cluster of the Accelerated Crop Improvement program at ICRISAT. Dr Jaba holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India. Dr Jaba's research focuses on various aspects of Agricultural entomology, including host plant resistance, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), biological control, climate change, insect pest modeling, and insect-plant interactions.

Dr Jaba's academic journey includes being a fellow of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research- Senior Research Fellowship (ICAR-SRF) during his Ph.D. pursuit, where Dr Jaba was recognized for his exceptional research by receiving the Best Research Paper Award at the 2nd Bio-pesticide International Conference in 2009. Dr Jaba further demonstrated his capabilities by securing his first grant as a principal investigator from ICRISAT and receiving the Young Scientist Award from Education Expo TV (EET CRS) and the Dr. Vasanth Raj David Foundation in Mumbai and Chennai, respectively.

At ICRISAT, Dr Jaba's contributions have been acknowledged with the Promising Young Scientist Award in 2020 and the Best Mentor Award in 2021. Dr Jaba's dedication to advancing scientific knowledge is further highlighted by his role as an Associate Fellow for 2021 at the Telangana Academy of Science in Hyderabad. Dr Jaba is a mentor to eight Ph.D. and two MSc research scholars in Entomology.

Dr Jaba's professional background encompasses various positions, including Research Associate at the University of Agricultural Sciences-Raichur, Regional Agronomist at DuPont, Subject Matter Specialist, and Visiting Scientist at ICRISAT. Dr Jaba also actively contributes to the scientific community as an editorial member for four international and two national plant protection journals. With a prolific record, Dr Jaba has authored over 60 research articles published in esteemed national and international journals.
