With a view to celebrate and honor the contributions of women in agriculture and address the unique challenges women face, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) initiated the concept of Women in Agriculture Day.
The celebration typically takes place on December 4th each year. It is organized by various ICAR institutes and other agricultural organizations across the country.
The theme for the celebration in 2023 is "Millets: Empowering Women and Providing Nutritional Security," as it coincides with the United Nations' declaration of the year 2023 as the "International Year of Millets."
