Lydia Murimi, a Kenyan national, has a robust career of more than 30 years in international development, private sector and consulting at national, regional and global levels, with lived experience in four continents: Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, program delivery, grant management and organization leadership, gained from leading multi-national organizations. Her expertise includes engaging multilateral and bilateral donors, the private sector, philanthropic foundations, government, international and national NGOs, civil society and academia, in global partnerships and alliances, to produce development impact, scale and value for stakeholders.
Before joining ICRISAT, Lydia held management and leadership roles in a number of global organisations. Firstly, in the private sector with P&L responsibility in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods industry, working with SABMiller, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive and WPP, before transitioning to international development. Since then, she has worked with the World Bank, UNICEF, PATH, World Scouting and the International Rescue Committee in senior business development roles overseeing partnerships, fundraising, project management, grant management and advocacy.
Lydia holds an MBA from the University of Leicester (UK) and an Advanced Diploma in Marketing from the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
