Dr Rajesh Pasumarthi is serving as Scientist (Microbiology) at ICRISAT having 5 years of experience in designing waste to wealth strategies that helps building soil organic carbon at production system level through regenerative agriculture practices across diverse agro-ecologies.
Dr Rajesh is leading the microbiology laboratory and engaged in testing soil biological parameters and microbial diversity adhering to the standard protocols. His research involves isolation and screening of potential decomposing micro-organisms facilitating rapid aerobic composting.
Dr Rajesh's expertise in production of biochar using pyrolytic techniques and its characterization paves the way for recarbonization and soil health improvement in drylands. He has spearheaded research on rapid aerobic composting initiative and scaled up different composting technologies and design community level composting business models suitable for rural entrepreneurship across various bilateral projects. He is involved in the capacity building of different stakeholders on agri-based livelihood generating activities like mushroom and spawn production.
Dr Rajesh is a doctorate in microbiology with specialization on strategies for improved biodegradation of hydrocarbons from BITS-Pilani, Goa campus. He has published research manuscripts and chapters in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
