With two decades of experience, Dr Martin Moyo is a versatile Farming and Systems Analysis Scientist. He has a robust background in sustainable agriculture, integrated environment management, food, and nutrition security, climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience. His expertise encompasses capacity building, research, and international project development, implementation, and supervision. His work involves collaborating with diverse stakeholders and partners across Africa.
Dr Moyo has a PhD in Livelihoods (Rural and International Development) with a focus on Climate Risk Management and an MSc in Agriculture Development from the University of Reading, UK. He excels in networking, partnership building, and team leadership, particularly in Eastern and Southern Africa. He has extensive experience collaborating with various institutions, including national and international universities, research and dissemination organizations, NGOs, bilateral and multilateral international development partners, and governments.
Throughout his career, Dr Moyo has been deeply involved in rural development projects. He has successfully led multidisciplinary teams and effectively coordinated with public and private sector stakeholders across Eastern and Southern Africa.
Dr Moyo’s contributions extend to delivering practical international capacity-building training sessions, workshops, and expert briefings. His areas of expertise include smallholder irrigation development, integrated soil and water management, nutrient cycling in agroecosystems, climate-smart food security initiatives, utilization of climate information for farm decision-making (climate risk management), enhancing the capacity of developing countries.
