Dr James Mwololo holds a PhD in Plant Breeding from Makerere University, alongside an MSc and BSc in Crop Science from the University of Nairobi. His primary focus lies in applying evidence-based scientific solutions to foster balanced economic development, ensuring the preservation of agroecologies for the prosperity of current and future generations. His approach employs value chain methodologies to enhance resilience and create a lasting impact.
Dr Mwololo aims to enhance the strategic design and management of investments, particularly in product profile development. He proactively identifies and addresses emerging opportunities and challenges. Additionally, Dr Mwololo has successfully supervised the graduation of over 7 MSc and 3 PhD students throughout his career. He has an impressive portfolio of 35 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has also led agricultural research projects as a Principal Investigator, resulting in tangible improvements in the lives of smallholder farmers. His contributions have been instrumental in releasing groundnut, sorghum, millet, and chickpea varieties across the Eastern and Southern Africa region.
Dr Mwololo has a diverse professional background, serving as a Lecturer and Researcher at Pwani University in Kenya for five years. He spent two years as a Technical Advisor-Agriculture with Farm Africa and served as a Graduate Research Fellow with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). His career trajectory also includes a stint as an Agricultural Officer with the Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya.
